Happy Easter, Dads—A Reminder This All Goes Fast
Estimated read time: 2-1/2 min
Happy Easter, Dads!
This past week, I went on a camping trip with my dad. Eight days away—the longest I’ve ever been apart from my family: my 5½-year-old daughter, 11-month-old son, and my wife of ten years.
And I’ll be real with you… it was tougher than I expected.
I was out there with my own dad—he’s 82. Our relationship hasn’t always been easy, but the trip gave us something we didn’t know we needed. A little quiet. A little healing. Some meals that didn’t involve cutting up grapes.
But more than anything, it reminded me of one thing:
This season of life is short. And what our bodies can do right now won’t last forever.
Watching my dad move slower—struggling with simple things like bending, lifting, even walking—it hit me.
Right now, I can still hoist my son in the air. I can braid my daughter’s hair. I can wrestle, carry, stretch, play. I can show up.
That won’t always be true.
So this week’s reminder is simple:
Appreciate what your body can do. Use it to love. Be present.
Because one day, we won’t be able to do these things. But they’ll remember we did.
This week in the club:
Braid of the Week
Double French High Pony
Clean, powerful, and great for medium to advanced dads. This one blends classic structure with flair. Beginners, don’t sweat it—stick with the basics, and you’ll be layering techniques like this in no time. It’s all about the reps.
Quick Fix
Struggling with crooked parts? Use the tail end of the rat tail comb, not your fingers. Trust me—it’s a game changer. If you dont have one, get one!
Book Club
Uni the Unicorn and the Dream Come True by Amy Krouse Rosenthal
A magical reminder that even in dark moments, belief and love can bring the light back. Perfect for little dreamers—and dads who need a soft nudge to keep the faith.
The real magic? Showing up for someone else when they’ve forgotten how to hope.
Community Highlight
Big shoutout to the dads in Discord who braided, posted, and showed up this week!
Loved this moment from a co-parenting dad who shared:
“I co-parent 50/50 with my ex and she sent me the following text this morning:
‘____ hasn’t let me take her braid out.’
Y’all… I put it in Monday.
Let’s see what hair she lets me try tonight.”
That’s the stuff right there.
Not just about the braid. It’s about belonging, consistency, and being someone she trusts to do it again.
Let’s keep lifting each other up. You’re not alone in this.

That’s it for this week.
Short and sweet—so close the laptop, leave the dishes in the sink, and go soak up this brief, beautiful season with your girl.
Till next week—lots of love from my family to yours,
—Strider
