We went to a friend’s wedding last night - and wow, nothing brings on the happy tears like a father–daughter dance now that I’m a girl dad myself.

Watching that moment - the quiet smiles, the shared rhythm - hit me differently this time. I couldn’t help but think about how right now, in these early years, we’re building the foundation for that kind of connection.

Every breakfast, every bedtime story, every walk to school - it’s all part of the same dance.

I remind myself often: my daughter isn’t a “mini me.”

She’s her own bright, wild, beautiful spirit.

My job isn’t to shape her, but to nurture her spark.

Still, I’ll admit - sometimes I take that job a little too seriously. I feel the pressure to “get it right.” To make every moment count. But nights like last remind me to zoom out, loosen my grip, and let joy lead the way.

Because the work we’re doing as parents? It’s not just in the lessons we teach.

It’s in how we show love.

And when I danced with my wife, my daughter, and my son last night, it hit me:

The best thing we can do for our kids… is to be present, and keep dancing.
