Dad Braids Club: Pick One. Stick With It.

In a world full of options, commitment is the real flex

Estimated read time: 3 min

🧠 Today’s Idea

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about commitment.

Not just in the big, dramatic ways—but in the small, everyday choices that pile up and shape our lives.

Because if I’m honest? I’ve spent a lot of time being stuck.

Stuck between ideas.

Between projects.

Between “maybe this” and “maybe that.”

I’ve started a lot of things over the years—art projects, business ideas, dreams. And I’ve struggled to finish many of them.

Why?

Too many choices.

We live in a time where we’re told more options = more freedom.

But too many options can actually create paralysis.

(Why do we need 15 types of ketchup again?)

I watched a TED Talk recently called The Paradox of Choice, and it put words to something I’ve felt for years.

All these little decisions—where to live, what to do, who to be with—they stack up. And sometimes the result is that we choose nothing at all.

But here’s what I’m learning:

There is no “best.”

There’s just the one you choose—and how you show up for it.

What makes something great isn’t the choice itself.

It’s you.

Your presence.

Your persistence.

Your commitment.

That’s what makes the difference.

Getting married is easy. Staying married is harder.

Same with parenting. Same with business.

But commitment is what gets you through the tough parts—and they always come.

So right now, I’m practicing just picking something—and sticking with it.

It’s helping me clear out the noise.

It’s making space for what really matters.

And it’s teaching me that discipline is a form of freedom.

Kiki’s Delivery Service

A Studio Ghibli classic about independence, finding your way, and sticking with what matters—perfect summer family watch.

Styling Cream That Actually Works

This has been helping big time with flyaways and clean braids—especially in this summer humidity.

Kindergarten Prep Workbooks

We’re slowly getting back into the world of “school” over here, and these have been incredible.

My wife started using them even back when our daughter was 3—and I really think they’ve helped so much.

✌🏻 Final Thought

That’s it for this week.

Summer’s been a little slow for Dad Braids, and I just want to take a second to say:

Thank you. Truly!

I’m so grateful you’re here. This community is growing into something beautiful, and I couldn’t do it without you.

Big things are coming soon—Dad Braids Levels and colored scrunchies are almost ready to launch.

Seriously can’t wait to share more.
