Dad Braids Club: Once Upon a Halloween

Hope you all had a great Halloween, my friends!

We sure did. Our family went all in this year with a Broadway theme - Into the Woods.

My daughter was Little Red Riding Hood, my son played Jack’s cow, my wife went as Cinderella (the “before the ball” version), my mom nailed it as the Witch, my brother-in-law was the Big Bad Wolf… and me?

Well, there was no way I was passing up my chance to wear a 5-foot wig and braid my own hair for the first time!

I was Rapunzel 🤘🏻

After gluing together some old Amazon boxes for the tower top and painting a sheet for the tower, I gave a massive three-strand braid a go. It was ridiculous, fun, and oddly symbolic - the girl dad who’s been braiding for two years finally braiding his own hair.

Now that the candy’s been sorted (and secretly stolen), it really feels like fall is here - shorter days, colder mornings, and that quiet sense that time keeps marching on.

There’s something so special about this season of fatherhood. Watching my kids in peak imagination mode - costumes, magic, wonder - it’s hard not to think…

Every season of parenthood comes with its own kind of magic.

This one - where imagination still rules, and Halloween means cardboard towers and 5-foot wigs - might just be my favorite so far.
