Braiding, Bonding, and Becoming Better Dads—One Week at a Time

📩 Estimated Read Time: 3 min

You know that feeling when you hit the couch after a long day? The sound of a cold can popping? Gliding your hand through the wind out your car window?

That’s what we’re making here—a moment to learn some things, have fun, and become better dads, together.

Every week, we’ll drop braiding tips, dad hacks, and cool stuff to do with your kid. Cool stuff I’ve found around the internet.

So thank you for being here (from the very beginning)! Let’s get into it.

💇 Dad Hack: How to Keep a Braid from Falling Apart

Ever send your kid to school with a perfect braid, only for it to look like a bird’s nest by lunchtime? Here’s how to lock it in:

✅ Start with damp hair – Dry hair is harder to control.
✅ Use a little mousse or gel – Just a tiny bit helps keep everything smooth.
✅ Double up on elastics – One at the end, one near the base if needed.
✅ Teach your kid to respect the braid – Less tugging, more lasting power.

Try it out and let me know if it works for you!

🎬 What We’re Watching: My Neighbor Totoro

This week’s movie pick is a must-watch classic—especially if you’ve got a little one who loves adventure. My Neighbor Totoro is a beautifully animated film about childhood, imagination, and giant cuddly forest spirits. Perfect for a cozy family movie night.

💭 Word of the Week: The Small Stuff is the Big Stuff

There’s no big moment in fatherhood that makes you a great dad. No trophy, no grand gesture, no single life-changing day. It’s the tiny things—the morning routines, the inside jokes, the five extra minutes you spend playing instead of rushing off.

When she’s grown, she won’t remember if your braids were perfect. She’ll remember that you did them. Keep showing up. It matters more than you think.

That’s it thats all! Keep showing up. Keep braiding. See you next week. 💪

All the best from my family to yours,
– Strider
