Dad Braids Club: Can’t Hold It Forever

How to appreciate the growing seasons — even when they change everything.

Estimated read time: 4 min

Yesterday my daughter and I went on a bike ride/run.

She’s been so proud of her biking lately, so I decided to take her on a longer ride - just to see how she’d do.

And honestly? She blew me away.

Almost six miles later, she was still smiling, still pedaling, and keeping up just fine. She even wiped out at one point, took a few deep breaths, and got right back on the bike.

As we rode home, I couldn’t help thinking about how everyone says it goes so fast.

And it’s true. She’s only in kindergarten, but I already feel it.

Sometimes I catch myself wishing I could slow it all down - just freeze these sweet, simple years. But then days like this remind me: growth isn’t something to fear. It’s something to celebrate.

Every new skill opens another door. Every little milestone makes room for the next adventure.

We can’t hold onto anything forever.

But we can be present enough not to miss it.

And later, when the years really have flown by, we’ll have an archive of beautiful memories - not from clinging too tightly, but from being right there while it all unfolded.

✌🏻 Final Thought

Here’s to the moments that move too fast - the rides, the wipeouts, the little victories.

The ones we can’t keep forever… but can live fully while they’re here.

Thanks for being part of this community. I’m so grateful for every one of you.
